Angered, but in the End, Quite Disappointed
I began my day with a wonderful discussion in Theo about how man is unique because we are worthy of love. Our God died to save us and even became human to dignify humans. We are too precious and loved by him that he did all this for us. To top that, my Philo class talked about how humans have the infinite capacity to love. It is further deepened as you go through it, and you know that there is more to discover as you go along. You have to experience it for yourself or you'll never know what it's really like. "To love is better", St. Ignatius said. This is what the Jesuits pride themselves with: Being men and women for others. This is the goal of the Ateneo education, and I would have to say that a lot of Ateneans have given a lot of themselves to being men and women for others, but sadly, not all do.
During my 2 hour break, Anix, a very good friend of mine entered our org room covering her knees with her bag. When she uncovered them, my friends and I freaked out to see two bloody knees. When she came closer, she had a torn shirt, scratched arms, peeled knuckles and hands and a deep cut on her chin. It turns out, she was on her way back from (take note) the Church of the Gesu to get the phone she left in the RSF (Rizal Study Foyer). On her way down the ramp, she tripped on a small hole and fell, incurring those wounds. *******!!! No one even helped!!! No one even bothered to say "Are you ok?" In fact, a group of guys laughed pa. ******* talaga!!! If I were there, I would've bumped their heads together. So much for being men and women for others, you can’t help even when it’s right in front of you. If I had seen someone, even a total stranger and that happened, I would. Sure, not everyone’s like that, but no offense, everyone should be.
When I was in High School, I was escorting a speaker to the AVR and the pile of papers I was carrying fell. Guess what, a bunch of other students I didn’t even know helped me pick them up, and to my surprise, the speaker did to. You know what he said, “Wow! I’m so amazed a bunch of students just came and helped. In college, that never happens.” Well, I didn’t believe it then, but I’m beginning to now. Maybe I’m angry about how people refuse to help maybe out of discomfort or whatever reason they might have, but it ticks me. But ultimately, I think I’m disappointed that after all this, they’ve learned nothing.

That's one of the reasons why I especially loved high school more than college. In Assumption, we're all the same. We were taught how to be proper ladies who know how to leave the comforts of our protective shells because we were given so much in order that we give to others less fortunate than us in return.
How DARE people stereotype us as "maarte". Maybe they should look at themselves first and analyze what exactly the word "simplicity" means. As Blessed Marie Eugenie stressed out, it's our FACE... We are women of F-aith, A-ction, C-ommitment, E-xcellence!!!
